  1. Whenever I cook a pasta dish hot or cold - I allow the pasta to dry almost completely. Lasagna noodles are dried on wax paper, Ziti or macaroni is left to strain for up to 15 minutes or so. This helps the sauce to "stick" better and makes for a less watery dish!

  2. Before greasing a cookie sheet or pyrex - or (the worst) muffin pans: throw them in the preheating oven for a minute or two - one stroke and the butter melts and coats instantly and easily.

  3. "Just a note when cooking steaks always remove from heat a few degrees from where you want it and then let it rest on the counter tented/covered in aluminum foil. This is because even though you remove the steak from the heat it will continue cooking internally through a process called "Carry over cooking"

  5. I buy a lot of meat & chicken in bulk at BJs. To save time & to speed up the cooking prep time I pre marinate them. I place Meat & Chicken with their marinade in gallon ziplock bags and then freeze it! When the time comes to cook it, 1/2 the work is done! You just have to remember to defrost!

  6. got a good tip for you guys. The next time you go to Costco/BJ's pick up a package of commercial cleaning towels. You will get 20 to 25 for around $20. Use them instead of paper towels. Get a small pail or bucket and keep them in an out of the way place when they are dirty. Save them up and wash them by themselves with bleach and then rewash them with white laundry. You will save hundreds of $'s a year. Not sure if you want to do it? Next time you open a new roll of paper towels see how long they last and remember how much they cost!!! And watch your kids with the paper towels. I know my guys grab them 3 at a time to blow their noses.Oh, and when you use them and they aren't that dirty just run them under hot water and wring them out. Hang them over your faucet to let them dry and you can re-use them. You can clean a whole kitchen with one towel and re-use it for the whole day depending on the clean up job you have. It works....
