I make this recipe ever Christmas, since I met my husband...it is our tradition!
1lb pork sausage - I have also used turkey sausage
6 slices white bread cut or torn into cubes
6 eggs
1 1/2 cup milk
salt and pepper
1 package shredded cheddar cheese
Directions - the night before:
Brown sausage in a skillet. Beat eggs and milk in separate bowl (like you are making scrambled eggs) Grease your casserole dish (13x9) and add your cubed white bread to form an even layer. Next, add your cooked sausage and cheddar cheese. Finally, pour egg mix over entire dish. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cover with aluminum foil and place in the refrigerator.
Directions - the morning of:
Take casserole dish out of refrigerator and leave on counter about a half an hour prior to baking. Preheat the oven to 350*. Put dish in oven (covered) for 45 minutes. If edges are golden brown, take out and let sit for 5 minutes before cutting.
